Dosen't anyone have a good Mark V, Mark IIC+ comparison?

Maybe I haven't done enough searching, but the one clip I found seemed kinda short and...not recorded very well. :|
I hear folks talking about the V and its inferiority to the IIC+, but for some reason they never have a mic around when they are comparing the two. If you own both of these amps, or you have one and know someone that has the other, I would love--as well as many others--to hear a really good comparison. (And if you're in NC or the surrounding area and own a IIC+, let me know. I have a little V that is up to it. We'll make a day of it.)

The Mark V is superior in many ways to the C+. You will have to be in the "drivers' seat" of both amps, side-by-side, to get the big picture. An A/B box will let you switch quickly from one amp to another, so that nothing is left up to memory. Recorded clips are a shaky representation, at best. WAY too many variables could exist. All that being said, this old dog will stick to the C+ tricks that I know. 8)

Well, I feel like that's where I'm heading. I'm one of the few that prefer the IIC+ mode on the V to the IV mode. Before I pursue selling this to buy that, I need to have at least one good comparison clip. Of course, I really need to play one...

...it really comes down to a "feel" thing for me-if I want to cop "the" C+ tone, I am playing in the IV mode/I prefer the C+ mode for low down grit-the real dea C+ has more bounce to its feel..and I like it!hard to describe/gotta feel it to believe it-don't think any clip can do the "feel thing" justice...got more "juice"(note:comparison with a DGX C+ and a DRG C+)

Yes you do. I sent you a PM about modding the Mark V  .

I'll still disagree with you on this. After owning a few IIC+'s for years and playing ton of gigs with them i never thought for a second the V was better at anything. I do have clips of me on both amps but i kinda sound like me on both. But i can tell you this, i felt much better about my playing on a IIC+ over the V anyday.

Checkout my Soundclip page. The Cooking Groove clip is a IIC+ and the Hitch a Ride Clip is a Mark V. The IIC+ was on an MC90 and the Mark V...........damm, i forgot which speaker i used.

What is superior about the Mark V is its functionality. I would love to have individual tone, presence, and reverb controls for my IIC+ channels. The tube rectifier and Variac power would be nice options to have as well. With all that being said, I still own two DRG Mark IIC+ amps and do not own a Mark V. I opted for an Electra-Dyne as my new-model MESA amp. 8)
