Does your DC hum?

Just incase you haven't tried this, try changing guitars and cords. Try moving farther away from the amp, my Strat Deluxe with Lace Hot Gold sensors hums like crazy when I'm facing the amp.

Try going straight into the amp with your guitar if you are using pedals. I tried a couple of Hot Drive N Boost pedals last night. They sounded great, but made my DC-3 hum like it was ready for take off.

You can try replacing each Preamp Tube, 1 at a time. Usually this will solve the problem.

Mine is dead silent. It needs a cap job, but all the tubes are brand new.

Make sure that there are no fluorescent lights on in the room, motor circuits can make an amp hum too.

If the tubes don't work, you might have to take it to a tech for a cap job.

Hope this helps.

Facing my guitar away from the amp helped, and turning off the fluorescents REALLY helped! Now it only hums when I have the gain on the lead channel pegged, which is to be expected.

If I wanted to try a noise gate, what would be the best way to use it?
