Hey just wondering if anyone is using Boogie tubes in any of there non Mesa amps?
I have a couple of amps and was looking to just go the simple route for re-tubing, but one (an old Sovtek Mig60) runs 535 at the plate and my Bogner is at 495 at the plate, So with that info at hand would Boogie EL34's hold up to the plate voltage, or should I keep buying "Wanged C" at nearly $60.00 a pop?
Thanks, Fish

Hi fishy,

the el34 design can handle insane amounts of plate voltage. 535 should be no big deal. Look for a pair of vintage Siemens ones. You'll be VERY glad you did. Angela Instruments has 'em.

I bought a pair of NOS Siemens EL34 STR-450 from the Boogie site a couple of years ago when they were $70 a pair. Now they are $150 a pair...wish I bought more at the time. I LOVE THEM!!!

Thanks guys. The problem I have is that my band plays a lot of gigs and rehearsals, I already went through two sets of "=C=" and right now I am looking for a simpler and more economical way to re tube the power section along with avoiding the hassle of taking the chassis out to bias. I was thinking of Mesa tubes because just about every music store carry's them and they are in the ball park tone wise.

The Mesa labeled el34's used to be Siemens. The would still but Siemens doesn't make tubes anymore. They last longer and sound better. Again, worth the $$ and might as well get a dual socket bias tool anyway.
