I had to change mine after a few weeks when It got it as it was screaming like a banshee. Once I changed them all it seemed to stop for a while. It gets this loud hiss at decent 11 O'clock volumes. You have to lower the 6600 slider to make it go away. Now it is doing it again. Is it the preamps or just my settings?? :?:

mark V mode
gain:4 O'clock
Master: 9 O'Clock
Presence: 9 O'clock
treble:1 O'clock
Mid: almost Noon
Bass: set to zero meaning 6 O'clock

Sliders: ------ = slider bars

----- (just slightly above middle line) --------(RIGHT ON MIDDLE LINE)

------(right on middle line) -------(also right on middle line)

------ (Right on the 750 Hz lower line)

Thanks guys!

I havn't changed my pre amp tubes yet. I have a pre 500 Mark V head bought new.

What Guitar/pickups you are using?Sounds like EMG

Actually both. I have EMG's in most of my guitars but it was happening with last night with my Ibanez Apex1BBK 7 string that has DiMarzio PAF's. :?:

That sucks Sean.

I just bought a brand new Mark V for touring and I just recently noticed this low-level high-pitched pinging/screetching noise as well (I am assuming it's either my pre-banned frequency X2 wireless or it's the Mark V fan). Either way, I am only using CH3 Mark IV settings so you can't hear it when I'm playing. It's annoying but I don't think it's the pre's in mine. Is this similar to what you're experiencing?

Boom that is dead on! Yeah either crunch mode or any mode on CH3. when u raise the overall output.....I get this schreetching hiss and only comes down to lowering the right most treble sliders and still sometimes that does not always help. Plus a lot of feedback. Others I have spoken to about this said that the Mark's in general have finicky preamp's and feedback/hiss issues. Not all of course.

Happens if I plug straight in or even through my G-30 wireless and walk like 20 feet in the jam space.

I had it with one EMG guitar, but since then (split with the EMG not my thing) went away till now (4 month).

As beeing not the big specialist I am asuming it has to do with feedback through the EMG's

Well thankfully I figured out it was NOT the amp. But some where in my signal chain. I plugged a straight up guitar cable and no schreech....and aslo my G-30 wireless and no schreech.....all was well. I played around a little with checking one at a time each device and I kept getting the schreech.

My chain is not extent. Wireless G-30---RMC WAH----TS-9---Boss Super Chorus---Bigshot ABY---Mark V. The pedals ALL kept giving me the schreech so I am guess it might be one of the cables connecting the pedals.

Luckily i have a bunch of small cables to check out and see which one it is. The trial and error process is so annoying but thankful it is not the amp or preamps.
