Do most folks use the reverb/EQ on Mark II's?

Just curious, if I find some Mark IIC's without reverb or EQ how do folks get by? Reverb through the effects loop, EQ pedal, or is the Mark II tone killer without anything? Seems to me you need both of these...

If you put an eq pedal in the chain whether it be in a pedal chain or in the boogie effects send/return wouldn't that to a degree denegrate the tone?
