Folks, just a thought, and most may know it but try dialing back the gain a bit on your Recto. Remember we are playing through fire breathing dragons. I know when I first bought mine I overdid it but not now. Of course, my pickups are hotter than most and if you have played a Tremonti or an SC250 then you probably know what I mean. I keep both channel 2 and 3 gains hovering around 12:00. I have seen some folks post that they are hovering around 2-3:00. Keep in mind that you will develop fizz and you will lack definition. Hope I did not bring up the obvious but I just wanted to share w/ my support group b/c I do believe it is easy to overdo it.

+1.

I generally kept my gain at 12:00 or just below. The only time I turned it up to 3 was when I was trying to cop a Big Muff sound.

I find the fizz to be an issue with the 3 channel Rectos. My tone stays 3D, tight, and fizz-less with my 2 channel Triple, and I previously owned a 3 channel to compare it to.

However, in general, you're definitely right. Especially for recording, it's a good idea to dial the gain way back.

I run mine in the 10:30 to 1 range most of the time.

If Im playing at home I will sometimes move it higher for lower volume playing. Over 1 it seems to get muddy and loses its presence in the mix.

Im glad to see someone acknowledge this.

Less gain is a big plus in my book.

The DR seems to have a sh!t ton of gain compared to my Rectoverb I used to have. I had to run the gain at 1:00 or 2:00 to get the same gain the DR has at like 11:30! No joke. I was shocked when I heard Noonoo's DR for the first time. It sounds much better than my old RoV I used to have...

When i first got my dual rec a little over a year ago i was operating the gain in the 1:30-2:30 range but recently i've dialed it back to about 12:30 or so...it makes a big difference. Of cource this also coincides with the point where i installed EMG's so that had a lot to do with it as well...but i love the sound i'm getting now.

It takes a lot of restraint to dial back the gain on a gain monster and it's hard to explain the concept to someone who is used to cranking everything to 11, but it's really worth it.
