Hello,
I am brand new here to the boards and loving it so far.
I REALLY need to convert a 117V Mesa 20-20 power amp to 230V. I have found a few threads that go into how to do this:
http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22879
http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2811&hilit=+voltage
Now I thought I was pretty handy with a soldering iron and making small changes to electronics (I have modded a lot of XBOX's and Nintendo Wii's for example) but I still do not understand exactly what has to be done to perfrom this mod correctly.
Could someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE provide a step-by-step walk-through on how to perform this conversion. Perhaps with photos of the before and after, and marking out where and what needs to be done in each step.
Also, an explanation of where (in Australia if possible) the varistor can be purchased from and how to get it. Or can I just get one from the UK distributor (somehow?) like the other poster did?
Even down to the detail of what 'direction' the varitor needs to be soldered in e.t.c (if that matters) would be great.
Could someone please come to the rescue here? I would be forever grateful.
cheers,
VidarAus
