Looks like I live near you. (Doylestown)

Its good to know that rig is within 40 miles of me...let me know the next time your house is unlocked and you're not home.

Ahh, just like the Petrucci rig. Love it. Every time I see that rig, I wanna die. Haha. My IIC+ comes in on Monday, Joe. I'll hit ya up and maybe I can bring it down Monday or Tuesday or something.

i rewired it in the new boogie case and swapped the decimator out for the dbx 266xl. it's so much quieter now and more transparent. who would of thought a $149 noise gate is better then the $450 one.
Can it be set up using the 4 cable method?

I've been looking into getting a Decimator G-String (the rack unit is WAY out of my league),
but with it being so hard on the wallet the DBX looks like a good deal if it does as good of a job.

yeah the decimator created to much ground loop hum that i couldn't get rid of with the two amp set up. it worked great when i had the triaxis rig though. no engl preamp, i'm good with the steve morse engl. i also picked up another half back cab with 2-c90's and 2 ev's. as far as the dbx goes vs the decimator if your not using a rack with two amps it probably not worth geting. the decimator pedal will be better with one amp it the front of the amp or in the loop. the g-string is just like the pro rack g. so you would have to run in the front and the loop for it to work the best.

Exactly, I need one for my effects loop as well as before the amp, so I figured the G-String (or any 2+ channel) would suit me better.

I had considered getting the Decimator (single input), but I realized that I'm going to need one for both the effects loop and before the amp, so I figured I might as well get one that will cover both areas.

nice rig man!
do you use it in stereo? and do you use both preamps at the same time or do you choose between both?

don´t you have massive hum coming from groundloops while using two heads?

The ground loop problem has been solved on all of the new decimators (starting about a year ago). They installed 3 ground lift switches (all all inputs/outputs except ch 1 in). I have an older one and installed the ground lift switches. It works wonderfully. The tracking feature of the decimator alone makes it the best noise suppressor available. Using the DBX, you'll run into the same problem everyone else does with effects loop level issues. The whole beauty of the decimator is how ch 2 triggers off ch 1's source. It's a shame you had the ground loop issue. Also, using 2 heads, you should have had the stereo version... I'm guessing you did?

my decimator was less then 2 months old with the ground loop switches which did nothing and the stereo mod. i was on the phone with bill from ISP for over an hour going through every possible hook up configuration and if was stumped. like i said before it works great with a single amp set up but with my amps it created a ground loop hum. i don't have a problem with my effects loop levels. if i bypass the gate from the loop the levels are perfectly the same and my tone is unaltered. i'm not saying the decimator is junk but it just doesn't work for my needs. bill at ISP said that the stereo mod might be creating a ground loop because there isn't a switch for the ground lift on the stereo mod, they are just for channel's one and two. i'm running both amps at the same time for my dirty channels and the mark iv for clean.

Bill rules. That's rad that you tried super hard to get it all working. Maybe 1 or 2 audio line transformers could have solved your problem. But in reality, the bottom line is that your rig sounds and looks rad now right!

they might have worked but i didn't want to ad more stuff to rig. maybe one day i'll try the decimator again with out the stereo mod. the dbx works pretty well i might try the 166xl and the 1074 quad gate just to see what the difference is. it seems like the dbx is in more pro racks then the isp. petrucci, slash, and metallica all have the dbx in their racks. i also heard that the drawmer gate is good also.

My girlfriend thinks my rack setups are silly- i can't wait to show her those pics... :D
Do you know what that rack weighs?

i needed two for the extra loops. my tuner, rack wah, g-major and gate are all running through the loops in the gcx. only the rack wah and tuner run in the front of the head. the gate and g-major are in the fx loop of the mark iv. then i have the 3 channels on the mark iv taking up 3 of the loops. the mesa amp switcher is also taking up 3 loops so i can switch between the 2 amps. hope that makes sense. lol

Any chance you could post your complete signal path? I've always been curious as to how the amp switcher works in context of this sort of setup. Why couldn't you run each head from the output of a dedicated gcx loop and not use the switcher at all?

I'm asking because I am thinking about going to 2 amps(A/B, one for cleans and one for dirtys, never both at the same time)... controlling w/ axess gear and running my g-major through both effects loops... just curious as to how you're doing this.

Way to go.

Your rig looks sick!!! 8)

I have only been using my StudioPre with one of my power amps. Haven't had time to get them into a big rack with effects, eqs, etc. yet.

Since my last group imploded due to one of the members having addiction issues, I haven't spent much time with my rack stuff. :(

Anyway, is that rig just for home use or are you going to melt some faces off with her!?!?!?
