I've been trying to use a GT pedal using the 4 cable method but when doing so I have a loud hum. I've determined the cause is my effects loop. The higher I turn the knob on the back for effects output, the louder the hum gets. When I remove the GT from the effects loop and use it like a normal stomp box (guitar / GT / amp input) I have no hum. Just for sh!t and giggles I did try another o/d pedal patched through the effects loop and had the same results when the effects were turned to bypass mode.

Anyone have any ideas what's causing it and how to fix it? Any things I can check to help determine the cause? Help is appreciated, thanks!

Have you modded the loop to serial?

I've had the amp since 2003'ish. Since then the only mod I've done myself was the volume modification. Is there a way I can see if the previous owners had modified it by opening up the amp? I've got the verision with the blue light and three metal flip switches on the front if that helps...

If you open it up there's a white wire going to the blend pot as well as an Orange wire (I think... it's been a while) If both those are hooked up to the blend pot it's still stock.

Get hold of Monsta Tone and he can let you in on how to do the mod. It's easy.

Would the modification being done cause the HUM or could it be that it's not done and that's why it hums?

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it. I'll check in the guts ASAP...

If your loop is parallel it could be causing issues when you're running rack gear in the loop.
