Hey.

I was playing my Dual Recto tonight and staring at it, I kinda wondered if there were any customizations out there we could do to these amps.

I dont know, logos, new treadplate, etc.

I think I might change the jewel light first. :)

My 5:25 is getting a freshly reconed jbl k-110... as soon as it comes back from the reconer. I don't know how to keep anything "stock"!

I had my treadplate anodised. I had the treatplate on the recto cab made black, and the treadplate on the head dark grey. looks sweeeet!!! Just ordered a new jewel lamp lens (-;

Im gettin my dual rec(probably come today) and I'm finishing it in Purple suede, getting the chassis(dont know if thats the correct spelling)done in chrome with a purple jewel light, might even see my tech about changing the channel satus led's to green, blue and purple, more like a roadking!!!!!!

Ill post picks before all this and after at different stages in her life,
RAWK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have any pictures of this?

Mine is normal I wouldn't mind the black plate though and a new funky light cover.

I went from this:

I guess amps are a little different than guitars, where I don't like to see guitars re-finished, I would be concerned with an amp losing it's value for cosmetic reasons! Factory options are cool, but like that recent post about the blonde Dual Rec that appeared to be re-tolexed, I'd stray away!

So you don't like my cosmetic mod.

Nice F-series, Hal!

How did you manage to get all the parts you needed?
Thanks!

If you read my tutorial, it explains everything: http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1182222&highlight=amplifier+cosmetic

Back when Vibroworld was still taking orders, they sold Mesa Tan Jute. I believe the Marshall Cane is the same fiber though, and you can get that through Mojo: http://www.mojomusicalsupply.com/item.asp?pid=61681&pg=44986&id=6000009

Here's a close-up of my Tan Jute grill:

I was in the same boat when I had a DR. I went so far as get a replacement head shell for it which I no longer need. Check it out here. Shameless, I know... :)

Actually I don't, but I will take some and post on here after the weekend, as it's at the rehearsal room. Black treadplate looks great on the cab. The silver treadplate was too blinging! I was actually going to have the dark grey on the cab, but it wouldn't fit in the ionising bath so went with black. In fact I prefer it now - in bright light, the dark grey I have on the head looks silver anyways...

yeah, if i bought the tread plated cabs, I'd have then powder coated Black as well, great idea, I like my black dp much better than the silver (which doesn't look bad at all, but the black just looks evil haha) Very interested in seeing those pics bud!!

OK sorry it took a while, but here are the pics. The head with the dark grey treadplate:

And here's the cab with black treadplate:

They're both anodized, not powder coated and the finish is really really nice - which you can't tell from these pictures.

On the head? Well I asked mesa, and they basically told me to take a hair dryer to it and a flat knife and slowly prise it off. it's just held on with glue that can be heated to make it soft. Pretty easy!
