I'm getting a crackling noise on channel 1 and probably on the other 2 channels of my Mark V. I didn't have this issue the first couple of weeks but I noticed it after that and now it keeps getting worse on clean channel. Its there no matter if the loop is on or off, or if any other settings are changed it's still there.

Could this be a tube problem or maybe an old cables problem?

Man, I wouldn't figure it would be preamp tubes but I gues I could try it out. Another thing about the Mark V is that its a bitch to work on. Gotta take the whole chassy out of the amp head just to change em. I dont even know how to do that. With the Recto it was easy to take it out of the headshell.

You don't have to remove the chassy to get at the preamp tubes. I just turn the head upside down, pull one or two power tubes (make sure you put them back in the exact same spot) and then go after whatever preamp tubes you want. That said, V1 is still a b!tch to get at, but it can be done with patience.

Yea I did put the head upside down one time and pulled a couple power tubes to get to V1 preamp to see what kind of preamp tube my mark V had. Took FOREVER to get the V1 shield back on.

undo the 4 screws on top, take out the cables connecting the amp to the reverb chamber, then there is that thing ( i have no idea what to call it ) in between the transformer and the head shell, if you as you loosen the bolt it will relieve the tension and you should be able to remove it. once you do that you can slide it out.
