Hey, my girlfriends Fender Hot Rod Deville started crackling yesterday. Even when the volume is all the way off it still makes crackling sounds, like a broken guitar cable would do...but this happens even when the cable isn't plugged in. I have some new Mesa Boogie 12AX7 tubes I wanted to try in it...would they work ok in a hot rod deville amp though? I'm not sure how the biasing works/power levels etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated :)

You can put the Boogie 12AX7's in with no problem. Af far the power tubes, you can buy a duet of Boogie 6L6's if you want, but you would have to adjust the bias for optimum tone. Not a big deal but you will need a Bias Rite or other device.
