Been a while since I've posted on here, though I viewed many a thread on the board before I took the plunge on a mark iii combo, which I love. As the amp is seeing more time outside of my house, I'm beginning to appreciate how goddamn heavy it really is. With the guts of the amp, the EVM 12L, and the roadcase, it is almost impossible to get it in and out of my corolla unless I have assistance.

So I'm thinking of doing the following (which i've heard is fairly common):

-convert the combo to an open-back cab, keeping the 12L in there
-order a cab for the head (short head) and install the amp in the head
-????
-profit

I vaguely remember someone on this forum who custom built these cabs cheaper than ordering one from mesa. maybe i'm thinking of a different forum tho? In any case, I think this would be a fun project to attempt, and it might make taking my gear to practice/gigs a one-man job. Any info on whom to PM or advice/pointers from people who have attempted this (successfully i hope lol) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Check out forum member GTS. He makes great headshells. If I remember correctly he makes thiele cabs as well.
