I have 2 horizontal Recto 2x12 cabinets that I am looking to connect together via the Parallel jack on the back of the cabinets. What my question is, what OHM should I use in the back of the Mark V head when connecting the cabinets this way?

Right now I have them hooked up separately to the head using a 4 ohm jack for each cabinet. This is fine but I am finding that one cabinet tends to be louder than the other. Will connecting them parallel distribute the sound a little more evenly between the two?

4ohm.

Daisy-chaining the cabs produces the same parallel split as plugging each cab into the amp separately. The only difference is the physical location of the Y junction (in amp vs in first cab). Electrically it produces identical results.

For various reasons speakers aren't all identical. If you were to put your ear up to each speaker in a regular 4x12 you'll find that each speaker produces a slightly different volume. In the end it's not a huge deal since they all blend together anyway. The trick is to practice mic'ing the various speakers until you find the one that consistently produces the best sound, then consistently mic that speaker at gigs.

What ohm is each cabinet? If they are both 8ohm cabs, then you would plug them into the 4ohm jacks on the back of your Mark V. If you only use 1 cab, then you would plug it into the 8ohm jack on the back of your amp. I don't know about the Mark V manual, but in the back of the LSC manual there is a whole section on connecting cabs. Very useful. That's how I understand it but read the manual just in case. If you don't have it, download it from Mesa's site.
