wow.

no fans of cleaner tones, eh?

i guess everyone here is just into that metallica/dream theatre thing.
:?:

not me baby!!! i LOVED the tones you had going on.....fabulous! I always love your stuff.

Good stuff, Gonz! 8)

I love my cleans but in all my 23+ years of playing, I've never been a huge fan of strats for that jangly tone..although I do have a Tele at home I mess around with once in a blue moon. I've always been into the big warm jazzy cleans. Always highly respected players like Clapton and SRV but never got into that strat tone. Players like Santana, DiMeola, McLaughlin,Holdsworth, etc.was the tone I've always went for.

Also, nothing wrong with kickin' back with a few listening to some old Metallica sometimes too. I've never been huge into Dream Theater but I've got some of their material on my ipod.

Awsome, fun to listen to! I love strat tones especially position 4 which I'm just guessing is what you're on - could totaly be wrong though 8)

BTW, I hear digital clipping, may I suggest setting your master to zero and using compression to bring up your volume and knock down your bass a bit to increase your total output without clipping. Just a suggestion though, I thought the tune was seriously grooving and FUN :) And gread guitar work dude!

thanks guys...
freedom, it's not digital clipping.

i never get anywhere near the devil's ceiling!
LOL

it's ambient noises in the rhythm track.

if you listen thru some good cans, it'll be real obvious.....

That was cool man 8)

Same as before (the Strip), the tune isn't something I'd normally listen to, but you've got a great mix going on here and your guitar sounds awesome. Nice playing too, you've got quite a unique style

Didn't sound like clipping to me... just strange swirling background noises

heheh, i thought this thread was ded.

thanks for checking it out folks

appreciate it. a lot of folks around here concentrate on just high gain stuff, i thought i'd mix it up a bit with some cleaner tones.

neptical
jangly strat tones, yeah, i've only come to the single coil quack in the last 6 years or so, always used humbuckers before....
so i know what you mean.

i think i used both #2 and #4 settings, maybe even some bridge settings, even tho IT is a humbucker, i have a "Q" filter on the tone control, which lets me dial the capacitance on the selected pickup DOWN, variably, sorta like one of those stellartone knobs, except this is a smooth taper. so i can use the bridge, and make it sound like a soft P90, or even a rolled-back single coil.

MRD
again, thanks for listening outside your normal intersest....that's cool.
swirling background, yep. it IS a weird sound tho, i could understand someone casually listening, and just hearing the clicking part of it. i tried listening to it thru a little jambox recently, at low volume, and that's how it sounded to me as well.

Thats some great tone you've got going there. :D

Care to share some secrets behind the settings ? I'd love to be able to dial up that Strat tone when I'm in the mood.

Cheers,

Phil.

philhouse

thanks for listening.

secrets to the settings, eh?

man, i just don't have any secrets!
LOL

i mean, i just twist the knobs at complete random, on every track, it's slightly different.
i don't have any 'precious' settings on my amp, any secret fixes, i know if i have too much treble, i roll it down....
if it bites too much, i either roll the presence down, or if that's too much trouble, i bring the 6600hz fader on the GEQ down......!
i'm lazy.

but i know, that i can pull the treble shift on certain guitar settings, and get just that much more midrange in a certain frequency, and i let what i need from the track, dictate where i set the amp.
