In your opinion. When you think of Classic Mesa Boogie Tone, what do you think of??

Any particular artist?? album?? song??

I really liked the MK1 stuff.Obviously it has evolved since then but those early Boogies had a certain magic to them. The first one I saw in person was at a Eddie Money show. The guitar player Jimmy Lyon had one and raved to me about how cool it was and how great it sounded. He was right!
Obviously Santana was one of the first to get the classic mk1 tone
Europa in particular. Also early Prince had the classic Boogie sound.
Bambi still sounds great today, not to mention Lady Cab Driver and Purple Rain.Todd Rundgren had some classic sounds as well on his stuff and with his band Utopia(Love in action,Just one Victory,Back to the Bars.) and Meat Loaf. One hallmark of a great amp is to make players sound like themselves. So many Boogie users and no two sounded alike.

there are three that are classic boogie sound,

1. Santana
2. Santana
and
3. Santana

The original Black Magic Woman? That was way before Carlos was using Boogies. That was Fender, likely Fender Twin with P90 SG.

To me there's various Boogie Tone, and my vote too would be Carlos' "Europa - Moonflower" era.

But for Today's Boogies and Boogie's Retros series there are many.

It says in the Mesa catalog that Carlos's 1st MKI was delivered just in time to record "Abraxas".

isn't the hotel california (song) solo done with a mark I???

and also didn't the eagles also use boogies (mkI) for most of hotel california, like life in the fast lane, victim of love, stuff like that??? im not sure, i always wondered, especially when the hotel california solo kicks in.

That's probably correct although it sounds like Black Face Fenders. But earlier Boogies did sound like hot rod Fenders (duh),

... but like you mentioned if you would have to describe a Classic Boogie tone wouldn't you think Europa - Moonflower more describe Classic Boogie than earlier Santana stuff?

Absolutely, "Europa" from Moonflower is "it" for me, in terms of classic Boogie, I was just being a know-it-all.
