which do you run higher? right now i usually have my output at 3, and run my channel volumes anywhere from 1 - 3, ranging from bedroom volumes to gigs...

About the same here. I run Class A, pentode, full power...

Output at about 2-3, channel masters at about 2-3 as well.

Yup, I do the same - lower the individual channel volumes as low as I can, so I can get the Master Volume up to around 4-5. This is where I think the amp sounds it's best - thick tone with nice sustain.

well there should be a difference, pushing channel volumes pushes the preamp tubes harder, and pushing main output, pushes the power tubes right? so there should be different blends depending what you push? i do feel the main output should be close to 3, and channel volume around 2 for a great tone with full power / simul class / triode...but my tastes for this amp change every day haha, and no matter what configuration you use, amazing tones are available

I need to remember to try this. I am running my master at between 1 and 2 at practice with my channels around 3. I guess I could lower my channel volumes down a bit and raise the master. Our last practice on Tuesday I switched it to full power on all the switches(cant remember off my head pentode triode and all that, but I put em at full) and it makes the amp sound a lot meaner after running everything in the low power mode. Meaner and beafier low end. I like it!

my problem is with the Output on 4-5 and Masters low, its LOUD....and vice versa. Either way just seems too loud for practice, and I play metal!

on full power/simul/triode i run output at 3 and masters at roughly 2/1.7/2 (rhym 1/2/lead)...thats for most gigs in my town and rehearsals..its as loud as I ever NEED to go, i can even get by running it a tad quieter then that sometimes..

I've noticed the amp feels different when you crank the masters versus the output and vice versa. Can't remember which is which but one way makes the amp feel more compressed and darker and the other way feels more open. I like to keep them about the same. Of course this is based on the Mark V so it could be a little different.
