For some reason channel 3 causes major problems. (in all modes possible)
When a tone is fading out, it suddenly cuts off, as if there were a noise gate.
After that, when touching a string softly the sound almost is dead and crumbles , but returns when striking a string firmly.
I mailed Mesa about it and they said it sounded like a weak preamp tube.
So, I ended up changing all the preamp tubes to Tung-Sol and that appeared to have solved the problem. Well, for about 2 weeks. Now it is back again. I swapped some preamp tubes around, but the problem remains. It does not happen all the time, so I took the gamble to have a gig wit it last weekend, sadly :? the amp failed me several times. It is very unreliable now.
I bought the amp in Germany (live in Holland) and I fear that when I send it back I will take 4 weeks or so, they will also change the tubes, charge me for it but that will not resolve the issue.
Does anyone here have a bright idea?
