Hi all,
I've got a pretty nasty crackle, shuffling paper, hissing sound that builds up on Channel 3 and only Channel 3 a few seconds after I kick off the Standby and start playing. It comes on with no input to the amp at all. The interesting part is that dropping down to Variac power on the front panel power switch reduces and then eliminates the noise.
With it being isolated to this channel, I started thinking it was a preamp tube associated with this channel (I think 4, 5 & 6 are CH3 only tubes). Tapped on those bad boys and not much was noticeable but V5 seemed to make the most noise when struck. I'm figuring that's it (and once I get some tubes, will try a swap) but I wanted to see if anyone else had a similar problem or advise.
Either that or I've got some bad power that is only noticeable on CH3??
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Cheers!
