I have 2 Mark III's that I use for band practice and live application. I need something a bit better for bedroom/living room jam use and was wondering if a .50 Caliber or Studio .22 would sound good at lower volumes or are they just as loud as my Mark heads?

EDIT: I should add that while I play around with Jazz and Blues, I play mostly metal.

I'd consider a Mark IV, or one of the newer Mesas with a 5w option. I have a DC-2 and a Mark IV. The Mark IV using the 15w setting is the best at low volume especially for Metal. The DC-2 is a little louder but really comes alive when you turn it just past a comfortable home volume. A .50 cal is way too much.

You can make a Mark IV work for just about any situation.

My .22(ish) is way too loud for bedroom playing, but it has a mute switch and recording out that I can monitor through my computer audio setup. It's an early Studio Caliber, which is mostly a .22

I would get another company's single power tube head and just use one of your cabs or get a new one. The THD Univalve is just a fucking badass modern gain head for the $$$. Especially through the THD 2x12 (not cheap).
