yeah... after weeks of forgetting to swap the cables, I remembered last night at band practice. HOLY CRAP! What a difference. So much clearer, cleaner, meaner... Just wow... Rather than having the G Major in the effects loop of my Recto Pre, I ran the Pre into the G Major and the G Major into the power amp.

So while I was jerking off to my tone being vastly improved, I noticed the speakers in one of my cabs really farting out. I still get sound, good and loud. But, something 'aint right. All I had was a broken screwdriver (long story) so, Thursday night, I will bring my drill and look inside. How can I tell if the seakers are blown?

I tested and found the problem was indeed with the cab and seems to have the same problem in both sides. So, if the speakers are blown, at least one on each side is toast. When speakers blow, do they usually all go at the same time?

I find it very strange. The cab is Mesa and is wired so it can be 4x12 @ 8ohms or 2x2x12 @ 4ohms per side. I honestly don't know how that wiring works, but I am farily certain sound is comming from all 4 speakers.

It's just weird. Last practice, everything sounded fine. Now, not so much.

it just sounds loose. Like the low end rattles when palm-muting. Single notes sound ok.

I am praying just tightening the screws that hold the speakers in or whatever may be loose in there will remedy the situation. Ugh...

Suggestions?

So, here's what happened...

I opened the back and looked inside and couldn't find anything loose or out of the ordinary... I was bummed because it seemed the back had not been removed before, like I popped it's cherry... at the same time, it had to be done. Some of the spongy tape on the piece of wood that is attached to the front baffle had been compressed and pushed off to the side... I ripped it off and stuck it across the middle of that piece of wood, screwed the back on and tested... no fart rumble.'

Hopefully, the problem is remedied... at least for a while, and now I have a fix if it happens agian.

As of now, I am relieved.
