Buying tubes

I found a set of el34's in my area on craigslist. Is there anything i should check with the guy to make sure that they will work fine with my roadster? I know next to nothing about tubes, could i just buy them from the guy, put them in, flip the switch to el34, and be on my way no problems?

They must be in the proper bias range for that amp.Unless you can check the bias,or can be sure of the tubes origin,I wouldnt blindly put them in my amp.
