i just purchased from a guitar center out of state a used 2:90
cosmetically it's in great shape- (they told me it was a 2004 or 2004- turns out it was made in 1995- i'm kind of pissed)
LUCKILY i just got it so i'm sure i'll have no time returning it- worst case scenario

anyway-
Channel A works fine
Channel B- the volume knob/pot seams to be messed up.
the volume changes almost randomly to how you turn it and will jump in volume at random points when moving
when you tap it up or down just a little it completely cuts out signal.

i def think that needs to be replaced- i'm going to call boogie in the morning
although the 2 presence nobs and the other working volume knob seam to be very scratchy.
any thoughts/idea's suggestions?
anyone have any similar issues?

any ideas for the cost of something like this? if i do keep the amp GC is going to be paying to fix it or i'm going to just return it.

THX

I too bought a used 2:90. My "B" channel volume pot was bent and didn't spin as nice as the "A" channel pot. I called Mesa and they shipped a new replacement for a nominal cost. Be advised that they are VERY difficult to change out because they are so tightly packed between the electronics and face plate.

before trying to replace everything you should try spraying deoxit on them first. wait 30 min before putting power on after. cost about 5$ takes 30 sec. could be a quick fix.

Yep try the deoxit 1st.

I too had a problem with a 290 and guitar center.. :x

They ended up buying me out of my replacement warranty and exchanging the cost of the 290 for a g major II with add on warrenty.. and got to keep the 290 (although it only has one channel).
