It's official... Talked with a GT person yesterday. I don't know how you all feel about it...but, No Sir, I don't like it.

I dont see what the big deal is. If they are still testing tubes and keeping the numerical rating system then to me the ownership is irrelevant.

while i can't agree or disgree on the quality of GT since i never used them, you're right in the sense that they don't make tubes, merely test and re-brand them. so it's more of a change of distribution rather than the product itself.

Groove Tubes has been making a few models of tubes recently. They also have some exclusive design tubes being made that are available only through GT.

I tried ALL of the KT-66 HP tubes that a local guitar center had and my results were piss poor. In one quad 2 tubes worked fine and two redplated (same rating), on a 2nd quad, 2 worked, 1 redplated, and one was dead, and a 3rd pair also red plated.

**** GT and their stupid numbers and **** tubes.

The Groove Tubes 6L6 GC GE is a nice sounding 6L6. I don't like their preamp tubes, but the 6L6 GC GE is a good tube.
