New to the Mesa club here. I just bought a used Rectoverb combo. The one with the reverb knobs in the back. Love the versatility and its ability to bring out the woody Les Paul tone I've been looking for.

I've read from various unreliable sources on the internet that rectifier amps are hard on tubes. Is that just an urban myth started by jealous non-Mesa owners? I don't gig with this amp so hopefully its not an issue.

RoV combo is a killer amp! Congrats... and stick around!

The RoVs are not hard on tube from what i've experienced and read. You should be fine!

I've played older Duals with Mesa 420's and original preamps. I forget the numbers on the old tubes but believe the 420's to be in the early to mid 90's. ASk elpelotero. One of his amps might even have had 415's. He's owned or had in his possesion two pre 500's.

I had a 98 2ch for most of 2007 and it had the orginal rectifier tubes.

Now that you've found this Board, I wouldn't worry about unreliable sources. If guys don't know the answer here, someone will at least point you in the right direction. Welcome aboard and great amp btw. My first Boogie was an ROV.

I have heard it said (read it here, that is...) that the bias on Mesa's is set on the "cold" side.

?

This is true, i've heard from various people, and certified mesa techs out there.
