Hey Guys,

I'm new here :D , but I've been checking out the boards since I got my Mesa. I'm using a Boss SD-1 as an overdrive for channels 2 and 3, but my clean channel is suffering from extremely low volume when compared to channels 2 and 3. The overdrive adds a bit of crunch to channel 1 so I can't use that, but I'm looking for a pedal that will increase the volume level of the clean channel so that it's comparable to channels 2 and 3 without adding any form of gain. Is this possible?

On a slightly different note I was considering an SD-1 mod. I was wondering what is the best sounding mod that can be done on the SD-1 when used with a rectifier.

Thanks!

I haven't been able to try that yet as I don't have a cable for my footswitch. Is the volume increase that dramatic?

I have the exact same issue. And, I use the solo boost for cleans as well. This works ok however, I find that although adding volume help a lot, some of the frequencies in the Rectifier's clean channel don't cut through a mix well. I'm thinking of adding a good compressor to fix this.

Try this,
Master levels -

Ch1 - 2 o'clock
Ch2 - 12 o'clock
Ch3 - 10 o'clock

And tweak to suit from there, if that doesn't work something is wrong.

yeah I'm same. I have my clean volume almost maxed to keep up . with the gain up around half I can drop the volume a little but its a tad more break up than i want in my clean

Just looking at a photo in my phone of my ch1 settings...

Presence - 11
Master - 1.30
Gain - 12.30
Bass - 11.30 (or just under)
Mid - 1.00 (or a fraction over)
Treble - 2.00 (or just under)

Perfectly clean with no break up for me at any output level.

Thanks Guys,

Even with the volume maxed and the volume on channel 2 and 3 at around 12 oclock the volume of channel 1 is not even close in volume. I just ordered a footswitch cable, so I'll let you know if the solo boost does any good. From there further options can be explored if the volume is not satisfactory.

Well the rest of your settings need looking at, probably mainly the gain, if you are running a heap of gain on ch2 and ch3, then the masters need to be probably far less than 12 o'clock, esp ch3 - 12 o'clock is way too high on the master with any sort of gain level that is moderate to high!

Bring masters way down, and use output to control the overall volume.

Good luck with it anyway.

+ 1

Adjust the clean channel to your liking with channel and master volume, THEN set up your gain channels ...
