What would be (and I am asking only for opinions......what I mean by "THE BEST" is your own personal favorite and entirely subjective) dual overdrive pedal under $300?
I play a Godin LGXT, Laguna strat and beginners tele through a mesa boogie Electra Dyne. I want to be able to go from a slight crunch for chicken picking all the way to metal (using the second channel as a sustained and/or slightly compressed lead boost), in one pedal. Built-in compression would be a plus.
I really like the Visual Sound Route 66 with compression, but I don't feel the gain is high enough for me. The Keeley site says it does not mod these pedals, so what other options would there be?

WITHOUT A DOUBT:

BARBER B-Custom Dual Discrete

The B-Custom Dual Discrete is the ultimate in customized highly tweakable dual overdrive pedals:

This baby is all about choices, choose between three enclosure colors, choose your knobs (you can mix colors with knobs), then choose any two of our "three knob" overdrive units (Direct Drive Super Sport, Tone Pump, LTD, LTD SR, Direct Drive LG). If you want the ultimate buffered bypass, look no further than the B-Buff. Ronni builds each Dual Discrete Drive by hand and to your specs in the B-Custom shop

This dual format saves space on pedalboards, uses one less cable than two pedal (better tone), and Ronni adds in extra controls on many of the circuits to make them more tweakable (like mids, or note shape). Measures only 3.7"x5.7"x1.5". WITH TRUE BYPASS.

not spam, i don't work for barber or anything, i just dig their pedals, and purchase them and use them.

*this* sounds EXACTLY like what I am looking for- MY tone as it is now, with a hair of gain and db boost.....so the BB is prolly on the way out, as freaking great of a pedal as it is......

Id love to try one of these. My favorite OD is the Direct Drive.

Blackstar HT Dual Valve 2 Channel Distortion Pedal :D
I own one of these and I have to agree. I haven't tried alot of others because my Roadster gives me almost all of the gain sounds I want without needing an overdrive/distortion pedal. That being said when I need a more portable rig for a small gig or teaching I turn to my 1974 fender twin with the Blackstar HT Dual and a line 6 dl4 for some slapback and it's like having a fire breathing three channel twin.-Now if I only had time to close the back on the twin to make it a little tighter.

If you like your tone already, my vote goes for the Xotic EP Booster. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for all the kudos by Luke, David Grissom, Tim Pierce, et. al.
