i gotta prs mccarty playing through a tripl rec. wats the best mettal setting to put on t make it sound good or even make it better sounding than EMG's hah.

The McCarty pickups aren't really a modern sounding pickup so you're not gonna hit the realm of EMG style pinch harmonics but you can compensate with something like an overdrive in front of your TR for a bit more boost.

On your 3rd channel on the modern setting, bold power variac, tube rectifiers, try this out (keep in mind this is with an overdrive):

(these are all clockface style... ie 12:00 means noon on the dial)
Presence: 11:30
Volume: 11:30
Gain: 2-2:30
Bass: 1:00
Mid: 10:00
Treble 2:00 (adjust for more refined gain sacraficing sound by becoming grainy much higher than 3:00)

platypus hit it right on the head way to go dude!!!! The only thing is to tighten a little bit get a clean boost pedal or a emg afterburner for you guitar and boost a little bit and it will give you a nice liquid feeling to the strings as well as tighten things up.
