Bass amp as basis for a pedal rig?

Anyone ever use a bass amp head as a basis for a pedal rig? I've been thinking about using a nice one (Eden, SWR, etc) with some good cabs with regular guitar speakers. Lots of clean headroom, lightweight, etc. I could then get my OD and other sounds from pedals.

Anyone else ever try this? How did it turn out?
