I just bought a used LSC and the sound fades out to nothing when switching from diode to tube rectifier while in 50watt mode in both channels. I also noticed the rectifier tube does not light up. Does this sound like a bad tube, or something more serious? The amp plays and sounds good in diode mode.

I would say the rectifier tube. It's an inexpensive experiment: go buy a new one, and if the problem goes away, viola! If not, you at least have a spare tube, and you've eliminated one possible culprit.

Sure enough! A new rectifier tube was the remedy! Nice and saggy old school goodness! Now on to the search for the ultimate overdrive pedal...
