true, that.


you know, i can see that these guys were obviously influenced, and loved that style of music.

i can imagine that they thought, as far as they knew, almost nobody had ever even heard any of that style of music, out in the big ole world outside of the cotton belt, and they were paying homage to it.

as a straight up infringement, i don't think that was strictly intentional, but i do think the ruling was fair.

point is, nobody ever made that kind of music sound that way, before zep, and they've been emulated for it ever since.
kinda cool, as far as rock history goes..
 
AND IN FACT..
i'd have to say that it's jeff becks fault.

the year before zep got it going, he was out touring with rod and ron wood doing covers of willie dixon's 'you shook me'.
pretty much, that was the formula that jimmy page immediately copied with the new zeppelin group.

beck was doing it before, and better, than page ever did, IMHO.
