I'm sick of tripping over cables at gigs so I'm shopping for a decent wireless. The Line 6 G50 has caught my eye. Anyone have any experience with these?

I guess not. I'm also looking at AKG's WMS450 system. Anyone know if one or the other would be better? They are both the same price.

I have used the line 6 relay g50. Unit worked great when I had a pedal board setup. I went full midi/rack so I bought the line 6 relay G90 rack unit. Very nice products. Very transparent. Two AA batteries can last two 4hr gigs. My buddy has the G30 unit and it works great as well, but the battery door is weak and breaks. I used the X2 wireless pedal board while back which turned into line 6 and that unit worked great as well but ate 9vs like crazy. I've been cable free for some years now and never looked back.

I use the G30 and love it, and I am notorious for hating any and all wireless units due to their tone loss. I am a total cable purist. However, I tried the Relay and almost fell over. Simply amazing.

I've been using the X2 XDS95 (stomp box version) for about 3+ years and love it so much I just pulled the trigger on the Relay G90 (hard to resist the AMS easy-pay). All my pedals are rack mounted now so I've been looking to get a good rack mount unit. I'm sure I will not be disappointed. The X2 is one of the best sounding wireless I've ever played.

The X2 XDS95 is a fantastic buy at $129.00 right now while they are clearing them out. I paid $350.00 for it when it first came out!

Just FYI. I was told when I registered my G90 that Line 6 bought X2/XWIRE.

I have heard this too

Looking at the X2 vs. the G50, I like the fact that the G50 uses 2 AA batteries instead of a 9 volt. (AA's are cheaper, and according to the site, the G50 lasts approx.
8 hours whereas the X2 lasts about 6). One thing to consider, especially since I already have to use 9V's for my guitars (although I change them about once per tour, so that's not a big deal).

I was going to get the Line 6 because of the digital signal as opposed to the now banning of the uhf variety. I was told the Line 6 has as good or better signal than most traditional cables.
I ended up buying an older Samson Diversity wireless system that was once owned by Dave Mustaine (Megadeth). F%&KING thing is awesome!!! I use a L.P. Ultra 2 with (2) 1/4" jacks (one acoustic and one electric) needless to say. I hated cables too! UNPLUG 'N' RUN lads!

I purchased a G50 wireless unit (I have it in my pedal board) and after a couple of weeks, I can say that I think it is awesome. It sounds just like I am plugged into my rig with a cable, and the battery which I have used for 6 hours already seems to have plenty of juice left. I went with the G50 since 1) I have a pedal board already and I use some pedals on there for effects & tuner, 2) I read the G30 transmitter was made of plastic and felt cheap by most reviewers online, and 3) cheaper than the G90 (and in my rig, I would have had to run the output of the G90 back to my pedal board anyway for wah & tuner pedals).

If I didn't need to run the guitar signal at all for my pedal board, I would have gone for the G90. Besides, I think the specs for the G50 & G90 are the same (range, SNR, etc.) so it is not like the G50 is inferior, although the G50/G90 specs are better than the G30.

Good luck with your decision!

Regards,
Juan

I've been using the G90 for about 3 months now. Awesome unit. Not one dropout, range is more than enough to run around a medium sized bar/small club with no signal issues

The "Cable Tone" feature is cool, but I found I like the sound best with it off.

Picked up a G90 rack mount last night.
Filled the last vacant space in the old rack and fired her up. After wandering all over my house, garage, and backyard without any signal loss or tone change I was giggling like a little girl. The quality of the components is outstanding. The tranmitter is all metal with an lcd that tells you what channel you're on, battery life, signal strength, etc. The reciever has a display that tells you the same info as well as which antenna is being used (and you can pick what color the display is). There are 3 led bar graphs that tell you the incomming signal, battery life, and RF signal strength.
If anyone needs a pro wireless that doesn't f@#$ with your tone and doesn't drop your signal this is your guy.

I just posted a thread asking about wireless systems in Misc. board.

I guess I should have checked here. Sounds like I'll be going the way of line6.

I really wasn't considering them due to the fact that their amps are something that has never really excited me. However, it sounds like their wireless is a nice unit.

After 2 weeks, 1 gig, 3 rehersals, and 6 AA batteries later.....

This is the one of the best gear purchases I have ever made. I have had zero problems with signal dropout or any kind of tone issues. Hell, I think the signal is cleaner with the wireless than with a cable. The reason for 6 batteries is that I used the ones that came with it for a couple days but I wasn't sure how old they were so I put 2 new ones in. I played on these for the rest of the week and changed them again that weekend on general principle for a bar gig that we played. After that I practiced every night last week and had some buddies come over to jam last weekend and we ended up playing for 4 straight hours. The batteries finally died after what I calculated to be 11-1/2 hours of playtime. I didn't have any extra AA's so I stuck the ones that came with it back in and have been rocking ever since! :D
ZZounds.com has these for $499 right now and you can do the 4 payment plan on it.
Go on. Get it. You know you need one.

My bass player just ordered a G30. We tried a G50 in the store and we both liked it. My buddy found a killer deal right now on amazon.com for the G30.
