today i received a new digitech gsp 1101. I am goin to try it with my triple rectifier.
I want to try something new. Well to me its gonna be "NEW".
check this out. I really want to keep the MESA's all tube tone and mix in the GSP1101 at the same time. I mean by running the Triple's preamp and the GSP1101 preamp at the same time.
1)I will split the guitar signal into the triple's front input and into the GSP1101 using a 3way patch cord.
2)The GSP1101 mono "LINE OUT" will then be sent to the TRIPLE's "return" of the effects loop.
3) I will set the loop "MIX" to 50% then adjust later.
4) there will be midi cable running from the GSP 1101 to a ROCKTRON PATCHMATE which will be controlling the switch functions of the TRIPLE REC. (so both the TRIPLE and GSP can go clean, dirty, solo at the same time. or have one preamp clean and the other DIRTY.)

since the TRIPLE has a parallel effects loop, its tube preamp signal will always be present in the chain.

I could always let the ROCKTRON PATCHMATE run all preamps, but the last thing i want to do is hunt down a bad patch cord during a gig.

my goal is to have both signals and keep my gear and cords to a minimum.. if this doesnt work i will try just the GSP1101 running into the effects loop 'return'.

just wondering if anyone has tried this. i will post my results..

If I'm not mistaken this gizmo has a send/return loop, right?
You could run your guitar into the front of the Digi, configure pre-amps, fuzzes, wahs, etc. before the Digi's loop, go from the send of the Digi to the front the amp, from the send of the amp's loop to the return of the Digi, and (with all the delays, flangers, etc. here), from the output of the Digi to the return of the amp. Tada!
This puts the front end of you amp in the effector's loop so you can use the amp's tone, too. And time-based effects like delays are after the pre-amp(s).
Look up "four cable" method of hooking up a Boss GT-8, that's what those guys do.

Well i tried this out. running both preamps at the same time then making them blend in together at the "return" of the loop. Well it sounded okay. but both signals kinda phased each other out. It Kept on sounding thin.
I was curious and wanted to try something different.

Eventually i ended up using the 4 cable method. It made the triple rec really stand out. only draw back was that the GSP1101 Noise gate can only be placed in the front of the amp. not in the effects loop.

I tried the GSP as a stand alone preamp/effects unit and straight into the power section of the triple rec . This sounded way to digital and lacking balls. I even placed an 31 band EQ between the GSP and power amp. but it affected the tone for soloing. Really bright and thin. I also played through reheasal with this configuration.. I got lost in the whole band.

so using the 4 cable method was the best for me. kept the Mesa tone there but it needs a noise gate after the Mesa preamp with the WET at 100%..
