If I could recall, G65 Celestion sounds like a cross between a Greenback Celestion and a Vintage 30 leaning more to Vintage 30.
I was on another board, and an amp builder find these speakers (for him) more appealing, stating he perfers the rounder smoother top end compared to a Vintage 30s and also mentions their structure (frame, magnet, cone) were practical identical and coindently when Celestion stop producing the G65, the V30s began to make their way into the market. Would you say V30 an update version of the G65? Perhaps.
For versatility (using all 4 modes), I like V30s for my ToV. For specifics, say I kinda want a "HiWatt" sound, I'd use Fanes Axion. I haven't tried much other speakers with my ToV.
