I currently use PRS 57/08 pickups...I like them, but I want some thing that maintains high string definition at high gain, but something very versatile, for cleans...I ordered WB Pickups (the firewater set) and hopefully those will be what I'm looking for...any suggestions??

A Dimarzio D-Sonic through a Mark V sounds like it might be what you are looking for. I heard that combination the other night at rehearsal and it sounded killer. If you are going PRS (like me) the HFS sounds very heavy and cleans up nicely.

uh-oh....a pick up advice post could be the proverbial "can of worms"!look for hundreds of different suggestions...good news, there are a lot of quality after market pups out there-anything that is "vintage-hot" to "hot" should suit your needs..AV magnet -the firewater sounds like its right up that alley-did you contact WB about suggestions regarding a PRS?

Ah yeah...I should get them pretty soon...I had him "Indian Tune" the PUPs for my rosewood neck they are going to be brushed nickel covers with gold screw bobbins...so hopefully they'll look stock on my ME II...can;t wait

My Elitist had burstbucker 1 and 2, which I liked. I did replace the bridge pickup with a Duncan Distortion, and I'm happy with its sound as well.

I had a Tom Anderson HN1 and H3+ (I believe) in a CE22 and they were hot hot hot, and the guitar was very nice, but I just didn't gel with the sound of the bridge pickup. I should have put some burstbuckers or 57 classics in it, but alas, I traded the guitar.

I had a Distortion Neck and Iommi bridge in an all-mahogany guitar I used to own, and it was a heavy sounding beast for sure.

I use WCR pickups on two of my guitars. These pickups sound GREAT on my MKIIC+. I would like to put them on my other guitars.
Call Jim at WCR and ask him which of his pickups would work best in your PRS.

I'm using:

Telecaster - Seymour Duncan Antiquity I's
Stratocaster - Seymour Duncan Antiquity Texas Hot's
Les Paul - Seymour Duncan Jazz Model and SH-5 Custom

This is what I have and it sounds very killer on the high gain channel. But it sounds very metal so it may not have the versatility you are looking.

I just assume everyone plays metal (the GOOD sounding metal). And reading all the posts on whether the Mark V can do Metal, I thought I was amongst "friends" ;-). The HFS was the original PRS pickup and people seemed to think it covered a lot of ground then, as it does now. For versatility and PRS pickups, the Dragon II's are great. The McCarty's are awesome, but cleaner... yet they sound huge through a high gain amp like a Mark or Raodster. Even the Santana III pickups sound very nice for versatility.

If you want to drop a good PRS pick up in a PRS, try a Tremonti in the bridge. This is one hot ass pick up. It sounds great in the MkV as do all my guitars with EMG's.

I play a Cu24, and I am crazy about the HFS. It will not be going anywhere. However I don't have much desire for the Vintage bass. I am reeeeeeally gassing to throw a Bareknuckle in there.
