I've been thinking about getting a 4x12 Rectifier oversized cab. I've heard that the straight Rectifier 4x12 can get too muddy and unfocused.

Any of you use one for live or recording?

(currently own a Mesa Traditional straight 4x12)

Depends what guitars and amps you're running through it, and the tone you're after. The Oversized cabs have more low end and less mids to give a modern heavy distorted sound. If that's what you chase, you'll get it. Your cab is designed to be tighter on the bass and clearer on the mids.

thanks Miguel :D

I am 100% aware of the tones that come from the rectifier oversized cabs.

I'm just concerned about the straight cab.

Have you ever used a straight oversized live with a dual rectifier or triple rectifier?

I will always go with a straight cab over a slant cab, but I'm afraid of what I might get with the straight oversized rectifier cab. I want a huge sound, but I also want a define sound.

I want a rectifier cab, but I don't know if I should get a slant cab or straight. It will be used mostly for recording and some live use (very little live use).

I have the Rectifier 4x12 straight cab with the slanted baffle. BEST cabinet I own, and I'm not a death-metal guy like many peg this cabinet to be for. Per usual Mesa-isms......there are always variables based on what you're using, etc.. But I A/B'ed it with my best Marshall cab and haven't used anything since.

I tried all the straight vs slant and traditional vs standard cabs, and I still prefer the Mesa Stiletto 4X12 straight cab. Give me the best low end definition and greater mids, whilst having slightly better tracking and clarity. Would still go down as a preference. Basically, when I had an oversized cab, the low end was too much for me, was a little too midscooped, and didn't track as tightly as I wanted. Got a Mesa Stiletto 4X12 straight cab, and couldn't be happier...
