So I have had folks ask me in the past what amp I was using during a gig before, because they dug the tone...but last night was quite interesting...and another night where the Stiletto ruled the night.
There were 5 or 6 other bands there that night, and actually, I was impressed with the first band, who was a metal band, where one guitar player had a Marshall (unsure of which model) and the other a Peavey XXX...the guy with the Peavey had a really great lead tone that cut through the mix while the Marshall was all mud. I was actually quite suprised when I walked to the side of the stage to see what amp he was using and it turned out to be Peavey. (I was like "Wow! a peavey?? that thing sounds great!")
other bands, were just the usual...Dual Rectifier, and Fender Deluxe. (2 bands shared equipment).
When my band hit the stage however, it was clear which amp ruled the night. the singer plays a fender deluxe, and I have my Stiletto Deuce II with my Recto 2x12 cab, and was playing my Gretsch Tennessee Rose.
From the moment we were setting up and I struck a few chords all the way until the end of the set, I constantly had people coming to try to figure out what kind of amp I had (I have a band logo over the Mesa logo), and could hear folks making comments about how much that Stiletto was "kicking ***" and how "that amp has some serious balls" etc, etc, etc...
Not just one band or one person, but a lot of them...like they were surprised how clear and punchy my amp was and how good the tone was I was getting out of it...and kept telling me during the entire set! (i could see them looking, pointing, discussing,...lusting....!)
Score another night, for the Stiletto Ruling the stage!
