so can anyone achieve andy timmons tone with the V on any setting (preferable without a pedal) I know he uses a lonestar and stilleto, but he also uses a boost into the cleans for his main lead sound. to me, giong from a gain channel to clean a steppign on a dist box for leads is silly and cumbersome (i cant justify buying a switching system like the pros) so anyway, tones like deliver us and helipad, and beware dark days ... basically that whole album

and if you do it with a boost.. thats cool too, just wondering if it can bedone without it.

pretty sure the timmons lead tones rely on a OD in front of a clean or slightly dirty channel in the first place. u'd be hard pressed to reproduce that without an OD box in front but if u or anyone else does it plz share.

Timmons is a master of dynamics. I would suggest setting up the LSC dirty channel to the dirty rhythm tone you need and roll back the volume for slightly broken up cleans. For leads he uses his BB preamp to boost the dirty channel. Check out his playing here on Electric Gypsy. It's a LSC (or stiletto..not sure) and a 2x12 recto cab. He bends down to switch on the BB preamp (I assume) for his solo around the 3:03 mark. His control of his sound using the volume knob is nothing short of amazing!!!

i watch his mesa vids alot.. one is the lonestar and one is the stilleto... i know his album was the marshalls with a boost.

but i can't tell what he's doing on certain songs live (but he nails his tone.. he is the player of course and you sound like you through whatever amp) but i want either 3 channels.. or one channel like an old marshall, and then boost it, or a M5... i dont think i wanna deal with the 2 channels.. and making one distortaed the other a fat clean and then boosting it... too many switches to engaged at once

ahh the endless tone search :)
