Analog pedals in a Roadster series effects loop?

I've had a G-Major for about the last year but I've never loved it. I want to ditch the one-size-fits-all MFX unit and switch to pedals. I'm also starting to gig now and I don't trust the G-Major enough to keep it in my rack.

I currently only have 1 pedal... an OD808 which I use as a boost at times on my gain channels. I love it... and use it before the pre-amp.

But I'd like to get a few other pedals. I really only want a delay (maybe 2 different ones) and a chorus pedal. Both the Delay and Chorus I'd prefer to be analog pedals. I'm leaning towards a Maxon AD-999 for analog delay, and an Analog Man Chorus for my Chorus. Once I get both of those I may eventually get a digital delay like the Eventide TimeFactor.

My question is... would those work in my Roadster's effects loop? From all the research I've done, it seems like it's hit or miss on if it will work or not. Some people say since the effects loop is line level and pedals are guitar level a lot of pedals don't work (by not working... I mean distorted and noisy). But on my Roadster's effects loop, there's a Send Level knob that would allow me to boost or lower the signal being sent to the pedals right? So I could possibly lower that down a bit and still use pedals in the effects loop?

I could always run these pedals before the pre-amp and avoid the loop... but then I could only use them on my clean channel. I'd like to be able to use some delays on the gain channels as well.

So what do you guys think? Is it possible and will it sound good (subjective... I understand... but in your experience?) to run Analog pedals in a Roadsters effects loop? And if so, how do I correctly set the Send Level of the effects loop? I'm assuming I would just increase the level until it starts to distort, and then turn it down a hair so it no longer distorts?

Works fine for me...

I run an MXR Carbon Copy in the loop with send at noon, and it sounds great.

I think the people who have issues with this either dont have a send level, ie Rectoverb or Solo, or dont know to use the send level.

Years back when I had the first series Single Rec, I never liked the way the effects loop 'FX Mixed' worked in that amp. It just didn't sound right at all. Some day I plan on purchasing a Roadster and surely hope that the loop works alot better then that. That amp was a 10-year headache.

Thanks for the reply's guys. I picked up an MXR Carbon Copy and ran it through the loop... sounds great! Much better then the digital delays I had with my G-Major. I actually just picked up the Carbon Copy to see if it would work (and planned on returning it either way)... but I may end up keeping it after all. Maybe I'll end up with 2 different analog delays and one digital delay pedal. For my needs, delay is one of the most used effects... so why not get a bunch of them? :)

How exactly am I supposed to set the Send Level in the effects loop though? Right now I only have this pedal in the effects loop and the send level is set at noon. It sounds good... but I'm not sure if I should be raising or lowering the Send Level and what to listen for after changing the send level.
