Ok fellow Boogie mongers I'd like your opinions! I just spoke to Mike B. and have plans for him to add EQ to my non-EQ C+. It is an original not an upgraded C+ so the problem is they have EQ's and sliders but not face plate's so it will be a faceplate from a MK IIB or something. I will keep the original faceplate but is the EQ tone worth it? It should make the amp have more value.

Thoughts?

I bet that is a pricy upgrade that will more than likely not pay off if you plan on selling the amp one day. You could get always with a EQ in the loop and be money ahead.
It's a personnel choice if you feel the added EQ is going to make a huge difference.
It may add a little to the value but when people are paying for a C+ most prefer the unaltered chassis version as oppose to the modded versions with incorrect period faceplates.

I have a C+ without EQ and put an Axe-FX Ultra in the loop and used the parametric EQ block and it worked fine. Didn't miss the on board EQ at all. Other EQ's have had similar success.

So far, that has been the consistent argument among the C+ enthusiasts.

Yours is an original C+.

A collector will want it all original.
A player will want tone and the flexibility of the EQ.
Adding a IIB faceplate and GEQ will change the market value based on it's upgrades, not collectability.

Some have and some haven't gone with the mod. FreeFall did and mooch didn't I think.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm going to keep her stock! I was messing with the settings for a while and found I can get a lot of different tones pushing, turning and pulling! I don't want to change it as it is an original stock C+. I can always try the pre-sonus or other EQ in the loop.

Also I have A MK IV and >50+ with EQ's on them already. It does sound amazing. I am going to have Mike B. do a cap job on it!

That's good...
What was mike's reaction when you asked to add EQ? was he leaning against doing the mod?

No not really. He said a pres-onus or other EQ in the loop would be a good alternative. He basically sounded like it wasn't a necessity but he would do it if I wanted. He also said the face plate's left are not in good shape. He did say it should be serviced though and that caps would make the low end tighter and add some power to the amp.

I just can't butcher this thing. It is a very clean C+ and not a scratch on the faceplate.

I say do it. Find a faceplate from a toasted IIC+ someday and slap in on there. Do you plan on selling it? If not, then why are you letting yourself get talked out of it here.

Who ever plans on selling anything? Why butcher it when adding one in the loop gets you to the same place. I don't see anyone talking him out of anything.
He asked for advise and people weighed in on the options and things to consider. It's his choice.

I don't see anyone talking him into or out of anything. He asked for advice and received some good observations about what could happen to the value of the amp if he makes the mod, and some alternatives that are available instead of modding his stock C+. Sharing viewpoints and experiences is what the board is about. Rob asked the question and is capable of making his own decisions.

Rob: I'll say two things: 1) I wouldn't mod it. I'd find one with an on-board eq instead. 2) Send your amp to Board member Boogiebabies for blueprinting.

I would not touch it!!!!! I also believe the non EQ models sound better. Read Mark V manual about EQ vs. NON EQ.

Ummm so now people should start listening to sales pitch info in MKV manual instead of trusting their own ears?

I gotta say it sounds pretty sweet! I agree with the fact your ears are the final judge but........what does the manual say? :D
