Ace pre-amp tubes

I was wondering what pre-amp tubes people are running the there Ace's.

I switched from stock to JJ ecc83s gold pins in v1 to v4 in an attempt to tame the amp. It worked but I have just put in a Celestion G12-65 which has smoothed it out further.

I have read a couple of posts where people were saying ecc83's in positions 1-4 was not a great idea. I am thinking now I have the G12-65 in there I could maybe look at getting some different pre-amp tubes.

What do you guys reckon ?

If you have a 1x12 combo, try MESA Chinese preamp tubes, MESA STR-450 power tubes, and the Weber Beam Blocker (4 inch) for your speaker. Then stand about 3 meters in front of your amp and give it hell. :twisted: Treble and Presence at around the 8 o'clock position. 8)

I've got a mix of standard JJ 12AX7's and the Gold Pin JJ 12AX7's...sounds awesome! A night and day difference between the stock Mesa tubes...
