I play blues/rock, and I am thinking about getting another combo to A/B with my lonestar classic. I love my LSC's clean and lead tones, but i am looking at the Ace or a Genz Benz El-Diablo to handle the crunch and high gain leads.

I have heard both at store volumes, but havent been able to crank them. Anyone have any experience with the diablo? The reason I am leaning towards it is because I can get a great deal on one, making it much cheaper than the ace.

A dude that replaced me in my old band plays an El Diablo! I don't really care for it!

Go with the Ace. The combination of an Ace and a LSC just slays. :D

I had an El Diablo 100. It's great for chugging power chords, but its distortion channel lacks clarity and color. Eventually it sounds like a large arrangement of crackles. If you'd like to hear both its clean and dirty channels, go to myspace.com/theappealband. I used it to record almost all of those songs.

thanks for the input. the only thing swinging me towards the genz benz is that I would be able to get it for around 700 bucks cheaper.

I got a chance to crank one to hear the power tube distortion with my EJ strat the other day and it sounded good. I wont use the cleans, that will definitely be handled by my LSC :D
