i have the good fortune of living ~ an hour away from the mesa factory, so i drove up there to get my Mark III yesterday. As i rounded the corner onto Ross. st. i saw a semi w/the back open & someone busily loading mesa boxes into it. When i checked in at reception, all the customer service reps were busy so i sat & waited. A few minutes later Randall himself walks in the front door & chats a bit. A few minutes more & the CS rep comes out to say that my amp is done but hasn't been play-tested yet, so he disappears into the back & pretty soon, i could hear someone wailing away on an amp & sounding pretty good. The rep comes back out w/my amp & says it's ready to go: $201 out the door. New reverb tank, some new caps, resistors, etc. He also said that my MIII sounded pretty good to his ears: even better than some of the IIC+'s he's played. Low volume tests were promising. i'm looking forward to turning it up a bit @ practice this pm.

Hey Man,
I know the feeling, and it's a good one! I live in Petaluma, about 2 miles from MB!! I've dropped in to buy retainer clips for my Mk IV footpedal, and they just hand them to me, say it is too much hassle to write up a ticket and off I go, no charge. They did a replacement of my ISO screen resistors on the A/B tube sockets and a general clean up of the Mk IV- $75 and they let me go into the service area to get it. I have a buddy who is an artist endorser and he says he "is due" for a visit to MB and he promises to drag me along to meet the guys and hang out.

I love riding my bike down in that area when they are test driving new gear and you can hear it all over the neighborhood. With Lagunitas Brewing Company just around the corner, its a good neighborhood.

Life is good here in Sonoma County.

...turned it up & it sounds great. i thought it was pretty good before the repairs but it's even better now. It also picked up a red "R" on the back next to the "MB": apparently there's a standard reverb fix for these.
