I ran Mesa 6V6s for about 2 months. They provide a rounder, more vintage, or less modern tone and attack. I like the crispness and aggressiveness of the Mark IV, so I didn't really bond with them. They are slightly reminiscent of a tube rectifier, maybe owing to the fact that you must run them in Tweed (which I never do). They took too much of the edge off for me.

I like the JJ 6V6 in my Mark IV, though others have described them as a 6V-L6. Anyway, it seems to be a little more blackface Fender with the 6V6's

what are you using for your preamp section? recently tubed my mark 4 with high gain option with 6L6 from JJ, wondering about just swapping 6V6, so it'll be high gain front end (preamp) with 6V6 power tubes.
