Just switched from 6l6's to JJ 6v6's with gz34 rectifier tubes in my 2x12 tremoverb combo, and wanted to let anyone else considering this to know that the result was awesome-warm thick tone at a much more reasonable stage volume. Absolutely love it.

Per Jay at Eurotubes, I'm running them in the el34 bias mode, in the tube rectifier mode, at 8 ohms.

Many thanks to Jay and Eurotubes, they shipped out the same day I ordered and were super fast in responding to questions I had emailed. (No, I don't work for them. Just happy to see customer service isn't completely a thing of the past).

Welcome to the forum.

Not a lot of people know that 6V6 have more bass than 6L6 in the tonal balance.

haha include me in that group! I didnt know that! Are they a drop in replacement like the KT77's are with EL34's?

I do not know ? They are not drop in like you said. But I think it is like the other stuff Eurotube's does with tubes .... like the KT88.

Just drop 'em right in, but make sure to switch the bias to the el34 mode and run it in the tube rectifier mode...at least according to everything I researched and the info I got from eurotubes.
I believe you need to use gz34 rectifier tubes (as opposed to the stock 5U4) to get the plate voltage to where it needs to be.

WARNING ......

You can not do this with just any 6V6's. This is not good for the amp or tubes. If the 6V6 is of the right values it should be fine.

Thanks Stephen, I should have clarified that.

The JJ's are apparently better suited for the higher plate voltages than other 6V6's. Played 3 gigs with them in and so far all is well.

Wonder where the bias should be set? Im not that worried about what brand of tubes cause I already put a variable bias pot in my amp. Just dont know the Ma to set it too!

What are you setting it for 6L6 and EL34 on that amp ???

28mA, according to the Eurotubes site:
http://www.eurotubes.com/euro-n.htm

I would verify with them just to be sure.
