Hi guys

Yesterday I was playing at home just to try some new sounds at a quite low volume (or what you can assume to be low volume with Mesa amps :D) and the fuse (with his cap holder) just popped out of my 50/50 power amp, I mean it jumped out on the floor just like spinned by a spring and when I tried to put it back in his place I noticed it has no "screw guides" (sorry for the lack of a better term). So my question is: is the fuse cap supposed to be like that, just a plain piece of plastic pushed into the fuse socket? Did someone of you ever experienced the same issue?

Thanks

It should have a "1/4 turn" blocking system, but it may be broken.

First try to see if it's really broken or was just uncorreclty locked.
Otherway you could find the same piece in every good electronic store, or another one that can easily replace the bad one if your'e good enough with a solder iron.

It worked good again since the last post but today I was in the recording studio and, when powered up the rig, the 50/50 was dead so I noticed the fuse cap was 2mm off and pushed it in place and the PA powered up. Yesterday I've been in studio the while day and it worked like a charm and I left the rig in place putting the flight case cover on the front side (to avoid any possibility someone touching the knobs by accident). I'll psot some pic soon so you can help me spot what's wrong with it (if can, of course :) ).

Hi

Here's some pics of the actual fuse holder (sorry for the blurryness). Can you spot anything wrong?

Thanks

Can't see anything with the blur, but i'll bet the retension mechanism is broken. Just buy another fuse holder of the same size and replace it (2 solders, any direction) or give i to a tech, it should be very cheap.

This's the site I use to buy tubes and stuff:

http://www.banzaimusic.com/Fuse-Holders/

I see in the holders description it says somewhere "for Marshall type" or "Fender type" or even nothing, can you say me if there's a right one (or better one) or if it's all the same. I've already wrote at the website to ask but I didn't had a feedback yet.

Thanks for the help.

The notched tabs at the end lock onto some very short pins within the fuse receptacle with a 1/4 turn clockwise motion. Yours have been crushed inward so that they can't possibly engage the pins. It is more than likely relying on friction only between the ends of the pins and the crushed end of the holder. Try straightening the ends so that the body of the fuse holder is again lined up with them and the whole thing looks cylindrical again (stick a pencil in the end to slowly drive them outward evenly). See if it engages the pins properly after that.

I've tryed to have a better look into the receptacle with a lamp and looks like there're 2 metal pins (one on each side) and one of them is twisted inwards (just like you said :) ), I'll try to realign it with the cilinder cavity and see what happens. This whole thing started with me never touching, changing or checking the fuse, how can it bend or damage on itself?

Thanks
