so lots of 1 - 10 watt tubes amps are out there...orange, peavey, reeves, crate, gibson, etc....

what's everyone's experience?? reliability??? tone??

The Epiphone Valve Jr. is a pretty nice piece. I have the head version and run it through a vertical 2/12 cab. I live in a dorm type arrangement and i can;t really run it at a comfy (ie loud) level but it is more than loud enough for jamming or practicing. I have not had any reliability problems nor have i heard of anyone else. Many people buy these heads to mod them but i think it sounds fine just the way it is. The price is the best part ($100 shipped from just about any online retailer) and i believe is justifiable especially when it costs the same or less than some pedals. There won't be much tweaking of the knobs since there's only one (volume) but i think the amp serves it's purpose without much compromise.

i just bought a crate V8 palomino, which is a 5 wattter with an 10 inch celestion... $279... still returnable if something better comes around

it sound raw, is very portable, and loud enough for quieter band practice

the similar gibson is $600... and sounds awesome

the lucky 7 around there price wise, and the one a i played sounded terrible with single coils when turned up

that's why i'm still fishing for suggestions

thanks

I have a Bad Cat Mini Cat. It is my fav amp.

It is loud but the word 'loud' is relative. Tonally the Mini Cat is absolutely astounding, has a texture that is inspirational to play.

heard a lot of good reports on the minimat made by matamp
www.matamp.co.uk i think its either 3 or 5 watts and i think they are showing a new low wattage one at the london guitar show theres a picture of it somewhere on the matamp forum
