2 Channel DR Loop Mod

I know there are a few topics on here about doing the serial loop mod, but I can't seem to find one that answers my specific question.

In doing the mod, is it possible to still have it assignable to my lead channel as it is now? If so, how do I go about doing that?

It works exactly the same. The only thing it really does is acts like the mix knob is at 100% all the time.
