Hi, all:
I am new to Mesa amps, new to tube amps in general, and of course new to the forum. So go easy on the t00b n00b
I have a 2:50 stereo power amp. When the amp is powered on it makes a LOUD hum, sort of like a 60-cycle hum. The amp is plugged directly into a wall power outlet (no weird surge strips or anything). If I flip the ground loop switch, I hear every radio station on the Northern Hemisphere, so I think the loop switch is in the right position.
This hum is constant and does not change regardless of what is plugged into the amp. In fact, it makes the hum with nothing plugged into the amp.
One clue: the person who sold me the amp replaced a blown fuse. I asked what blew the fuse and of course he assured me that it was nothing more than a blown fuse.
Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?
Thanks
