What are you guys using for 12AX7's in your C+'s? I had Eh's in there and thought they were very grainy and had a weird midrange to them. They sound great in my Mk I's though. I settled on some GE's for the C+.

Any thoughts or opinions??

GT 12AX7M's, Ruby 12AX7C9's or RFT 12AX7's.

EH's are very grainy.

Any specific position for these different brand tubes?

I have a few 12AX7M's and was not crazy about them in V1.

Just try also Svotek 12AX7LPS and Ei. RFT are great, also Chinese 9th gen.

i have a batch of tubes I pop in and out to find the best. I do like the Mullards and the Groove Tube Mullard reissues. The Chinese 9th are cool (I think the Mesa SPAX's are these) I have one IIC+ with Mesa Russian 12ax7's and it sounds so good I haven't messed with it! (MB did some work on it a few months ago)

Don't get me wrong! Sovtek 12AX7WA / WB absolutely sucks! LPS is a great tube....

I heard you say that before, and I plan on trying them for sure!

Yeah do that! LPS is a very linear tube that doesn't affect the natural tone of the preamp, helps you to bring out the flavours of the amp. It's also very quite.
